I've been dealing with ischial bursitis for some time now. According to my doctor and physical therapist, if you're lucky and there's a repetitive motion that you can stop doing (like bike riding), then it still might take a month to resolve.I'm unlucky- I think mine started when I slammed down on the hard seat of a roller coaster (and no, there was no "bone bruise," just the bursitis on imaging), and since then I don't have any easily reversible habits to stop--I'm not particularly sedentary, and I haven't had any repetitive lower extremity motions or sports that I can avoid, but my pain was still been pretty constant for a few months despite PT, meds, injections, etc. According to the PT, it's because sitting on it, lying on it, moving it with walking (you know, the normal things I do just EXISTING) are aggravating it, and if it didn't get better I might be looking at a surgical bursectomy.PT recommended this type of cushion, but all the quality ones I initially found were about a hundred bucks; simple pillow types (non memory foam, poor construction) were cheaper but didn't make any more of a difference than just using a pillow off my bed. Then I found this one- it's pretty much the same design and construction as those expensive ones, for the price of one of those simpler pillowy types. It almost seemed too good to be true, but I ordered it.It is an absolute game changer. After only a couple of days of offloading the bursa at work, the dinner table, in the car, etc (it's lightweight and has a carry strap, so it's easy to take wherever I am), I'm essentially pain free in the bursa this morning.I was still sore lying on it last night in bed (due to the design of the cushion, you really can't put it under you to sleep without arching your back significantly), but even that was a lot better, and for the first time I've got some hope that I can kick this thing (current plan is to use it for at least a couple of weeks of being pain-free, and then to still use it on long car rides, etc as a prevention) without surgery.I've only had it a few days, so take any assessment of durability with a grain of salt, but it seems to have high quality materials and construction, the design is almost identical to the expensive one, and the breathable/washable cover and memory foam haven't given me any trouble with sweating, etc despite using it on leather seats on hot days. And of course, it seems to be working, and quickly. I did notice, as other reviewers have, that initially I was more sore in my rear. Immediately, this seemed to be me just trying to find the best place to sit on the cushion for my body type so that my ischium was in the "donut" rather than on the firm-when-compressed memory foam. Once I found that sweet spot, and the cushion started breaking in, that bursal pain pretty much went away, but I did notice more of a generalized soreness in the surrounding muscles. I attribute this to the fact that generally the pressure points of your ischial tuberosities and their overlying structures bear the weight of you sitting (they aren't called "sit bones" for nothing), and so when you offload them, the surrounding tissues of your rear end bear the brunt of your weight, when they aren't used to doing so. That said, the discomfort paled in comparison to what the bursitis felt like, and went away pretty quickly. This is a niche product that you probably didn't just stumble upon--if you found it and are reading this, you probably did so after doing research for something that's ailing you. In my case, this thing was a magic bullet at a fraction of the cost of some of the other stuff out there, with seemingly all of the benefits. I'll update things if they change, but as of now, I'm inclined to say that your search ends here. Buy the thing. At first, I tried a simple rubbery waffle weave type cushion. It really didn't help at all. After looking at the offerings that are out there, I decided to try the Loutytuo cushion. The holes in the cushion correspond with the area I was having my pain. The cushion works beautifully. After using it at the dinner table and carrying it around to my piano bench and car, I decided to buy two more - so I didn't have to remember to take it with me everywhere. The price is so affordable making the additional purchases realistic. Without the cushion, I would get up after sitting for 10 or 15 minutes and feel tremendous pain across my buttocks upon rising. With the cushion in place, I can sit on it for an hour or more and get up with little or NO pain! I couldn't believe it. It was an answer to my prayers. If your pain manifests itself where the holes are placed in this cushion, I would think it will work for you too. I am 68 years old, 5'10" and weight 175 lbs. and I will not be without these cushions ever again. 5 stars! It had gotten so that I could not go for more than an hour and a half in the car without some pretty severe pain. First comes the the pain from compressing the nerve in my “sit bones,” which is a burning type pain, and an hour or so later, the sciatic pain hits in my legs and hip. This cushion did a great job preventing the nerve compression, and it seemed as if the sciatic pain took longer to appear. Took my daughter to college last week, and with proper lumbar support, I drove 4+ hours with minimal pain, immediately followed by another 5 with just the sciatic pain, which was tolerable on its own.It seems well made, and after 20+ hours of use in a very short period of time, the foam and cover look and feel like they did out of the package. Very pleased.I have been in a lot of pain due to Ischial Bursitis. This cushion has alleviated my pain so that I am able to focus on work and not my pain. I’m able to do the exercises I need to do now in order to reduce bursitis, where as before I was in too much pain to even exercise. I use this cushion in my car, at work, and even the couch because any pressure hurts.I absolutely love this cushion! I have a desk job and my sit bone on one side was so inflamed. It caused the muscles in the back of my thigh, down my calf and my ankle to have muscle knots and was so painful. I’ve done physical therapy, and have continued to do those stretches/ exercises for 2 years with no improvement. I’ve used a TENS unit, had trigger point injections and a an epidural injection into my piriformis. Nothing helped! I’ve had this cushion for 2 weeks now, and I could tell a difference by the second day of using it!!I am 5-11 200lb stocky guy with a 36 waist, and the booty mold is.... lol... made for yoga women. It's a little thicc ya know? My bum ain't that wide. So if you're a woman with some assets this seat cushion is perfect. It doesn't fit me perfectly, but it totally knocked out my spine discomfort while in the office chair. Little too tall for a car. My head was hitting the ceiling in a Buick. Not a small car. Better off with rubber cell stuff there unless you're driving VERY far like 1000mi vacation, in that case, keep the foam, more support..I have a degenerative hamstring tear. The Loutytuo provides some relief. Because of the severity of my situation, it may be the best alternative. You need to consider the severity of my situation and the fact that I am an octogenarian.Delivery was prompt.I think this cushion could really be great if it fits you right. I think my sit bones are too close together for this cushion so they hit on the sides of the openings. I didn't get the relief I needed so I had to return it. It was otherwise comfortable.I have suffered for years with the cramps from (what I call) my 'Sit Bones' and put up with it; which, in retrospect I could kick myself for doing so. As I age, now a young-72, the discomfort is becoming more prevalent. Now, bordering on being a Chubby Guy, I could not fathom, given (cough, cough) the padding on my Tuchas, the 'Sit Bones' would be anywhere near whatever I was sitting on; NOPE... I came upon this accidently, while looking for a yet-thicker Gel / Foam / Whatever Cushion to put on top of the one I already have, and I saw the 'Loutytuo Seat Cushion Pillow'. Did my usual Research, and decided to order from Amazon. WHAT AN AMAZING DIFFERENCE - TRANSLATED INTO HUGE REDUCTION IN THE PAIN EMMINATING FROM YOU-KNOW-WHERE~~~~ Highly recommend...I have pain along the ischial tuberosity and deep buttock pain when sitting. Unfortunately I need to drive a few hours a day and this was becoming increasingly difficult to do. I ordered a few different seat cushions but they were all too hard or didn't have enough support in the tail bone area and still had too much pressure on the sit bones. While I was waiting for this one to arrive, I used rolled up towels which helped some. This cushion is soft enough that it's comfortable but firm enough that it's still supportive. The holes lined up nicely but I do need to adjust myself to make sure it's just right. I don't feel like I'm sitting on a booster seat and it's has really helped me stay comfortable when driving.Awesome little seat cushion with a carrying handle. What I love the most, is that it takes pressure off my tail bone and butt bone. As I sit long hours in front of the computer with lower back and hip problems, it is important to have less pressure on these key areas. It is extremely comfortable for the first 15-20 minutes or so, but with extended use it flattens, and no longer feels the same. My only concern, that over time it will lose its sturdiness. I am 135 lbs, and would have preferred a little more cushion or thickness, so if you are on the heavier side, you should find something more durable, as it will flatten fast. The manufacturer should have made this cushion in 3 different densities: soft, medium and firm for different weights and sizes of people. For my job, like many people, I sit at a desk a lot. I had been previously using a memory foam cushion with a coccyx (tailbone) cutout to help take pressure off the base of my spine. Problem is, then the weight that would have been distributed on my tailbone area ended up on my sit bones instead. Now I've been having pain in my sit bone area, probably bursitis. I've had this cushion for about a week now and so far sitting has been much more comfortable. It is obviously also important to take breaks, stretch, exercise etc., but when you need to sit and yer bum hurts, this pillow definitely helps. :-)I find, so far that it does the trick and helps with the pain in my sitting bone. The ligament in that area is inflamed so sitting on the cushion relives the pain. The only negative thing about the cushion is that it only comes in one size and I thing it is a bit too large for my body frame. A size small med, and large to choose from would be beneficial.
